My name is Amanda, and I am currently a senior in college, preparing to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Like any person preparing to serve as a Mormon missionary, I am excited to see what the next eighteen months will bring, and as an English major, I want to take this opportunity to document the process of preparation.
I studied abroad during my junior year of college in the town of Brighton, England. In addition to my literature, writing, and musical studies, I spent a large amount of time traveling throughout Europe. The cultural studies and cross-cultural training classes I have taken, combined with my experience abroad, have taught me a lot about the ins and outs of preparing physically, emotionally, and spiritually for travel.
The purpose of this site is to combine my knowledge of travel (academic, experiential, or otherwise) with the spiritual elements of mission preparation that the church provides. In doing so, this site will function as a one-stop spot for mission prep how-to. Follow me as I prepare for my mission and help you prepare for yours through checklists, shopping tips for modest clothing, simple sewing patterns for mission staples, and tidbits of cultural and spiritual knowledge.
Cheers,
Amanda
